Updates, Observations, and Feedback

On March 11th, I started to schedule daily blogs to be posted each morning. These were a mish-mash of my writing from Quora, school, and other points of interest that I felt compelled to share. 10 weeks and 70-ish posts later, I have finally caught up to the present, though there are still more blogs in the “For Later” folder on my hard drive.

Since the start of that automated marathon, I have given the reader/subscriber of this blog a fair idea of my eclectic interests and desire to look at ways to make history relevant to the present and guiding for the future. Some of the posts have been read without commentary, while others have been discussed and shared freely. I can only hope that my perspectives have done justice to the topics, people, and ideas I have written about; at the same time, I hope that the audience appreciates my work as much as I appreciate your interest.

On April 12th, my daughter came into this world and our time has been a chaotic balance of tag-team parenting, literal poop-jets, and erratic sleeping patterns. Even as I type this, the “Wee Banshee” stirs fitfully in her seat to my left as she slowly shifts out of REM and into “I may be hungry.” Any parent reading this knows exactly what this means: the quiet is terminal.

As I have stated earlier, the ideas I share are meant for my 12-year-old son and her, primarily. You are convenient and welcome spectators to my ideas, but these are intended to be tangible products of my own mind for their later appreciation and education.

Interestingly enough, this is exactly what history is, in my opinion: the solid evidence of a time in our society which has become part of who we are now. Very few people I have written about ever consciously intended for their words and actions to become inspiration, guidance, or warnings to future generations – they just did what they felt was right in relation to their upbringing, morals, and professional goals.

Yet, here we are – at the intersection between yesterday and tomorrow.

My overall goal will be to write for them, but the fact of the matter is that I hope that my work gives us a better idea of who we are… where we came from. It is so easy to lose ourselves in identities which we feel most comfortable in, but the truth of it is that we define who we are… or at least we should. A passion, a voice, and our own thoughts… that is what we all could contribute to not only my kids, but to our own future.

In the meantime, thank you for following this blog and please, keep reading. My posts might once again become sporadic, but they will keep coming. There is no other option for getting my thoughts, ideas, and observations out there. Furthermore, keep “liking” and commenting. These ideas should not exist in a bubble.

    Having a kid changes everything.

When people ask me why I do what I do, I tell them it is so that my son will always have my voice, my writings, my pictures, my ideas and understandings, my wisdom (such as it is) and my thoughts about anything and everything. when I am gone, he will still be able to hear me and see me, something that I dearly wish that I had from my Grandparents and Parents.

    Keep writing!
